Metro 1 Properties, Inc. announces Susie Glass Miami’s first female ‘real estate industry’ LEED Accredited Professional
Miami, FL- Metro 1 Properties, Inc. announces Susie Glass as the company’s first LEED Accredited Professional. Ms. Glass is the first female ‘real estate industry’ LEED AP in Miami and South Florida’s youngest ‘real estate industry’ LEED AP. LEED Professional Accreditation distinguishes building professionals with the knowledge and skills to successfully steward the LEED certification process. LEED Accredited Professionals (LEED APs) have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and the LEED Rating System. A LEED AP is generally recognized as an expert in the field of sustainable design.
LEED certified buildings use key resources more efficiently when compared to conventional buildings which are simply built to code. LEED certified buildings are healthier work and living environments, which contributes to higher productivity and improved employee health and comfort. The United States Green Building Council has also compiled a long list of benefits of implementing a LEED strategy which ranges from improving air and water quality to reducing solid waste. The fundamental reduction in environmental impacts in addition to all of the economic and occupant benefits goes a long way for making a case for green building. It is also important to note that these benefits are reaped by anyone who comes into contact with the project which includes owners, occupants and society as a whole.
Ms. Glass has been employed by Metro 1 Properties since the firm’s inception in 2006 and serves as the Vice President of Marketing and Operations. Prior to earning her LEED AP, Ms. Glass earned her Certified Green Real Estate Professional Certification in addition to attending various green related seminars and events, most recently attending the 2008 USGBC Greenbuild Conference and Expo in Boston, MA. Ms. Glass spearheads the firm’s Sustainable Services Division including a list of services that encompasses fundamental and enhanced commissioning, consulting, green materials specification, products and systems selection, site selection, energy conservation ideas, community education and training. Ms. Glass currently majors in environmental studies while attending college.
