Metro 1 Properties launches hospitality group with veteran team
Miami, FL- Metro 1 properties has just launched a new division, the M1 Hospitality Group, specializing in the sales, management, leasing and consulting for hospitality, resort and leisure properties. With tens of thousands of hotel rooms in south Florida and a tourist based economy, Metro 1 began focusing on the hospitality sector almost four years ago. In a move to consolidate this effort, Metro 1 solicited the expertise of Fran Clougherty, who recently joined the team as Senior Vice President of Investment Sales in the group and Alex Duff, as Senior Associate in the restaurant/bar division. Since 1990 Fran has brokered several hundred million dollars of South Florida real estate transactions. These sales include the Days Inn Miami, the site for the W South Beach, the Governor, Nash, and other hotels. He was involved in the sale of the Strand (later the Living Room), Bang, Embers, the Cabaret, in addition to many other restaurants and night clubs. Alexander Duff, a native New Yorker, began his real estate career in 2002 specializing in the purchase and sale of restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. Some of Alex’s most notable deal include: Mokai Lounge/ Mama Vieja; Halo/ Hemisphere; Indomania/ Siembra; Tunelli/ Oasis; Hakan/ Dab Haus; Amendment 21/ Gigi Bistro; Fiore Pizza/ Pizza Power; Scrapbar/ Gil’s Café; Rabbit’s foot/ Loading Zone; and the restaurant at the Tudor Hotel. Also on the team are Fabian Graff, Senior Investment Associate and Thomas Conway, a junior research and marketing associate.

Alexander Duff joins Metro 1 Properties
Miami, FL – Metro 1 Properties, Inc. welcomes Alexander Duff as a Senior Associate in the M1 Hospitality Group. Mr. Duff has nearly 7 years of active Miami commercial real estate experience, and over twenty years of active restaurateur experience. Mr. Duff, a native New Yorker, started his career in the restaurant business and in 1989 he opened his first restaurant in Miami Beach, A Fish Called Avalon, at the age of twenty-four. This was followed by the openings of Miami-based restaurants American Bistro, Rebar and Pacific Time in addition to Pacific East located in the Hamptons, NY. Duff has specialized in buying and selling restaurants, bars, and nightclubs for his customers. Some notable deals that Mr. Duff has successfully closed include: Mokai Lounge/ Mama Viejas; Halo/ Hemisphere; Insomnia/ Sempra; Tunelli/ Oasis; Hakan/ Dab Haus; Amendment 21/ Gigi Bistro; Fiore Pizza/ Pizza Power; Scrap bar/ Gil’s Café; Rabbit’s foot/ Loading Zone; and the restaurant at the Tudor Hotel which he sold twice.
Alex has an extensive hospitality real estate network in New York and works with Cain NYC and the Brier Group, among others, scouting locations in Miami. In 2007 and 2008, Alex worked on the Island Gardens project as the exclusive real estate consultant for restaurant, lounge and nightclub retail leasing at the Shops at Island Gardens, a project that will include a mega-yacht marina and in due for completion in 2012. Alex also works as a restaurant consultant with several clients focusing on new concepts or improving their existing concept. Alex has always had a passion for the restaurant business and has become increasingly interested in marketing, cost analysis, and working with chefs on the creative side of the kitchen.
